Rajini said ‘Endhiran’ will set new history in industry!

This year much anticipated flick ‘Endhiran’ starring super star Rajinikanth and Aishwarya in the lead is directed by ace director Shankar and produced by Kalanidhi Maran of Sun Pictures with a mega budget.

It has music by AR Rahman which was launched a couple of days before in a grand event in Kaula Lumpur in Malaysia.

Rajinikanth while speaking at the event says, “For the first time in India, a film has been produced at a colossal budget of 150 crores.

Whether ‘Endhiran’ will create history because of this or because it’s a collaboration of Shankar, Sun Pictures and Aishwarya Rai is not the question.

It will create history more because it is for the first time an Indian film production will be equal to a Hollywood film. That’s why I said this film is a historical landmark in Indian films. And Kalanidhi Maran is the reason for it.

Maybe in future, another film could be made on a bigger budget. But this sci-fi film is the first one in India. Another company was to first produce the film but had to back out due to certain reasons. After that, we met Kalanidhi Maran and Shankar told him the story.

Kalanidhi Maran said he had full trust in Shankar and wanted to know the estimated budget and how long it would take for him to complete the film. After Shankar’s response, Maran said he would revert in 4 days.

When we met him, he had the complete details of ‘Sivaji’ returns theatre wise that even the ‘Sivaji’ producer would not have had! That’s how practical he is!

Kalanidhi Maran said we would make ‘Endhiran’ a grander film. Whatever he does, he does with a difference and a grandeur that ensures success.

That’s why everyone from politicians to film stars would like to know Kalanidhi Maran completely. People wait endlessly to meet him.

That’s because he is a star of the superstars. He’s sure to become India’s number one industrialist”.

Why is Aishwarya avoiding media? Will Abhishek once again be a gay?

These days Aishwarya is avoiding media. After the deplorable box office result of Raavan, Aishwarya is bit disappointed.

The movie has been ripped off by both critic and audience. So it’s expected that Aishwarya will resurface after the negative comments about the film are gone.

Both Ash and Mani Ratnam had lot of hopes from Raavan, but the movie bombed at the box office.
Hope to see Ash back with lot of promising projects.

Will Abhishek once again be a gay?

After shooting for three back-to-back action films, actor Abhishek Bachchan is all set to star in the sequels of Dostana and Dhoom. While he will attempt to tickle the funny bones of audiences in "Dostana 2", Dhoom 3 will see him once again team up with co-star Uday Chopra.

"Initially, I was against doing a sequel to Dostana. I couldn't see how Tarun Mansukhani could make it funnier. But he said, 'Let me write the script. You'll be the first person I'd narrate it to. If you don't like it, then I'd throw it away.' Believe me, Dostana 2 would be twice as funny as Dostana," says Abhishek.
About his sequel-to-a-sequel Dhoom 3, he says that Uday and his characters are the "backbone" of the film.
"Dhoom 3 is being scripted. Dhoom is nothing without Uday and my character. We are the backbone of the film," he adds.

The actor has just returned from Greece, where he was shooting for "Game". The action scenes in "Game" were the opposite of the ones in "Raavan". While Abhishek's character had to survive on his instincts in the jungles in "Raavan", he has performed some slick action stunts for "Game".

After shooting for Mani Ratnam's "Raavan", Ashutosh Gowariker's "Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se" and Abhinay Deo's "Game", which are all action movies, Abhishek has now taken a concious decision to move away from the gruelling back-breaking action for a while.

Moreover, he has signed two comedies to be directed by Anees Bazmi and Vipul Shah.
So is he deliberately phasing out his career from project to project, genre to genre?

Protests Abhishek: "I'm not a calculating actor. I don't choose the genres, rather the genres choose me. I follow my heart."

He adds: "I am impatient. I like to do a lot of work. I'm happy with the zest with which I work. If tomorrow I want to do only one film a year, I'll do that. Right now, I'm enjoying being a prolific actor. How many actors can claim to have done two films as diverse as "Paa" and "Raavan" one after another?"

Taj Festival ends with Bollywood dance performances

Bollywood actors presented a vibrant choreographed dance on the last day of the annual 10-day Taj Festival in Agra.

Bollywood actors Kim Sharma, Preeti Jhangiani, Sanobar Kabir and Meghna Naidu set the stage afire with a host of others celebrities.

Hundreds of tourists flocked in to witness the stellar dance shows on Bollywood numbers presented by actors on the last day of the ‘Taj Mahotsav’.

Dharmendra Soni, an Indian tourist said, “This is a very good event in itself. Agra is famous not only in India but worldwide because Taj Mahal is a symbol of love. So tourists from across the globe visit Agra during the festival.”

The Taj Mahotsav, a much-awaited event, has been described as a festive introduction to India and its northern state Uttar Pradesh.

“I enjoyed this programme very much, actually I have come for this party. I have looked upon the Internet, the festival Taj Mahotsav, and have come to see the last two days,” opined Maria, a foreign tourist.

This festival showcases the country’s extensive arts, crafts and culture besides folk music, and classical dance performances, and it also offers a variety of entertainment including elephant and camel rides, games, apart from a food fest to satiate the gourmets.

Besides hosting the Taj Festival, the organisers are now planning to offer another attractive event during the Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi in October.

The main venue of the cultural extravaganza, ‘Shilpgram’, literally meaning the village of artisans, is set in the backdrop of the magnificent Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world.

It was at the Shilpgram where artisans, who built the Taj, lived.

Constructed entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1630 and 1648.

According to historians, the emperor consulted experts from the Middle East and Europe as he planned the monument, which took 20,000 people and over 22 years to build. (ANI)

Bollywood reunites for 'Phir Mile Sur' film

A great multi-starrer ‘Phir Mile Sur’ is a new initiative to make the nation sing a song of secularism, was brought to you by The Times of India Group and Vodafone Essar...

Phir Mile Sur recreates the mood for an upbeat generation of united Indians. Filmed by Aarti and Kailash Surendranath, this commendable initiative has also been supported by Kingfisher Airlines and Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. Bollywood has been a part of this initaiative and here is what some of the proud Indians who made Phir Mile Sur have to say about the initiative...

Amitabh Bachchan
I’m honoured that there’s been a gap of almost 23 years and still the makers of this wonderful commercial Mile Sur want to include me. Though circumstances may have changed, the words and the feelings of the song still remain the same. I feel good about it.
Times of India have always been involved in many such nationalist, social, moral movements and I have had the great honour to being a part of it. I thank ZOOM for making me such a part once again.

Shah Rukh Khan
The first time I heard Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, I was around 20, yet the first thing that caught my eye was the visual appeal. It was more of a non preachy, personal patriotic song. It has a great secular feel and people are moved by it even now. I’m glad to be associated with this subtle yet powerful movement to be at secular equality with each other and stand united. (In this picture, Shahrukh Khan is seen with Kailash Surendranath, co-creator of the video)

Salman Khan
It’s a brilliant concept that shows us how to get everybody on board and how to get everybody together. This song also underlines that we’re all on the same plane; that no one’s richer or poorer in emotion. No religion, caste, creed or colour is greater than the nation and the individuals of that nation. This song is almost like a second anthem!

Priyanka Chopra
Mile Sur is as patriotic and moving as a song can get. It’s a brilliant initiative and I’m glad to be part of it. It was something I really admired and I used to look forward to watching it. I say we should sing it every morning when we wake up.

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Abhi- I used to look forward to it to see all these luminaries and celebrities of the country. Almost towards the end, Dad used to be on it and I would excitedly look forward. I remember growing up thinking how cool it’d be to be a part of it one day. Today, it’s even more wonderful, because I get to be part of Phir Mile Sur with my wife.

Ash-I remember watching Mile Sur on TV and listening to the track. It was so inspirational. I was a kid in school and it was just overwhelming and impactful. It gave me gooseflesh; I remember it till this day.

Ranbir Kapoor
Mile Sur is like an anthem for every child who grew up watching DD. This song speaks about oneness; it’s been an important part of our country’s history, it’s feelgood, it’s emotional, it’s cathartic, and even after 20 years if you listen to the song it will have same impact.

Shahid Kapoor
Mile Sur drew a sense of patriotism out of me; a sense of secularism and a reminder that we’re all the same. It was one of the more prestigious videos that came out; with the most eminent of personalities were in it.

Deepika Padukone
I remember Mile Sur being one of the first commercial message films my Dad shot for. When I got a call to be a part of the new version I was thrilled and called my parents, who were like ‘You MUST be part of it!’ I think it’s a great unifying thought for our diverse country.

Anoushka Shankar
Mile Sur is such an iconic piece of music. I’m 28 now and this is something I’ve grown up listening to and watching on TV. After seeing all those musical greats and then, specially being a part of this, as a musician, is such an incredible experience.

Shankar Ehsaan Loy
We’re happy that Zoom and Times of India have taken this iconic song and redone it to suit today’s tastes, because no one can do it better than them.

Aarti and Kailash Surendranath(Co- creators)
It was an exhilarating experience creating Mile Sur Mera Tumhara which was a mosaic of so many different celebrities from various walks of life and regions in India. Today, we feel the same emotions gushing, after a span of two decades. So many things have changed in India — growth, prosperity, the economic scenario, however, as citizens of this wonderfully diverse country, our feelings for India have only grown stronger and Phir Mile Sur aims to showcase just that. And after filming over 60 days on-location in prominent and historic sites across 13 cities of India and 30 days of post–production work, the video of the iconic song features is a gift of love to the nation.
