South Indian actors Vijay and Asin have completed the last leg of shooting for ‘Kavalan’, and if reports are anything to go by, the lead pair is ready to set the screen on fire with their sizzling chemistry in a romantic track shot in Lavasa, India’s first planned hill station. ‘Kavalan’ will hit theaters across south India next month and expectations from the film are already sky-high.

In a statement to the media, a source related to ‘Kavalan’ and present during the shoot in Lavasa, says that the entire crew of the film including choreographer Dinesh was very pleased with the performances of Vijay and Asin to the romantic number. The source adds that it is the chemistry that the lead actors share in the film that is USP of ‘Kavalan’ and everyone associated with the upcoming flick is sure of the fact that the romantic number shot in Lavasa will top all music charts in the country.

This is the third time that Vijay and Asin are expected to produce a hit together. Their earlier ventures ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri’ were also successful at the box office. ‘Kavalan’ has been shot at the picturesque location of Lavasa, a small city located near Pune, touted to be the first planned hill station in India. With the wonderful location in the background, and the sizzling chemistry of the lead pair, ‘Kavalan’ may well turn out o be one of the biggest hits this year.

Priyanka takes up the role rejected by Asin, Katrina

After Asin and Katrina Kaif rejected the second female lead role in Anurag Basu’s upcoming flick ‘Silence’, National award winning actress Priyanka Chopra has chosen to take it up.

After delivering hits like ‘Fashion’, ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Krissh’, Priyanka is prepared to portray the character of a mentally ill woman in ‘Silence'.

Earlier, this starlet was offered the lead role in the film opposite Ranbir, and the second female lead was offered to Kollywood actress Asin.

After the South Indian actress refused to take up the weaker role, Bollywood actress Katrina was given the role. But sooner she declined to be part of the film like Asin.

Both these actresses felt that Priyanka has a stronger role than theirs.

With other actresses refusing to take up the weaker role, Priyanka didn’t want the project to be shelved, hence she has decided to do the second female role in Anurag Basu’s ‘Silence’.

Insiders close to the actress stated that Priyanka understood that ‘Silence’ is a very powerful project that cannot be held up.

And it was due to this fact that the actress has volunteered to do, whatever is best for the project, even if it is swapping roles.

Besides shooting for the film, Priyanka was seen spending time with her friends while Ranbir was entertaining himself at casinos gambling his time away.

The entire film was shot in New York and Vegas. Interestingly in ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, the lead hero Ranbir has sported the look of a superhero and Santa Claus.

About Ranbir’s look in the film sources revealed, “Ranbir's get ups are part of a song. He had fun dressing up as Batman and Santa Claus. It will be one of the highlights of the film.”

Siddharth Anand’s ‘Anjanna Anjaani’ is slated to release in theatres in September.

Asin: Youth Icon of Kerala

Folks from God's own country, Kerala, handpicked Asin as the 'Youth Icon of Kerala', in a public voting poll conducted over a period of 15 days.

Reveals a source, "The poll involved many personalities – Asin came out the reigning winner, since she is intelligent and representative of the thinking youth. She is talented, beautiful and has done Kerala proud"

Asin was bestowed the honour by a seven year old fan, since she idolised her and the South star confessed "at being overwhelmed," even as the Who's Who of the Southern Film Fraternity, political leaders, and Cultural Affairs Ministers looked on.

Reportedly, Asin also pocketed a cash prize which she promptly donated to a palliative care department that concentrates on reducing the severity of disease symptoms.

Incidentally, the term 'youth icon' is rather befitting as regards Asin; since the South

Senorita was recently called to speak on behalf of the youth at the esteemed 'India Today' conclave on the subject of 'Reality v/s Idealism.'
